Jackie of Lashings...

**A WORD FROM JACKIE** This last week I was on Shaun’s Sick Leave Podcast (Click HERE to connect) to talk about, well, me. Something a handful of people know (& now a lot more will) is that I have an autoimmune disease called Graves’ Disease which - in addition to affecting my physical health - affected my mental health a LOT. It also stays with you for life, which is super fun. I find it easy to talk about the business, to tell the story of how we’ve grown, the things we do day-to-day & our origins, but it is much more daunting to talk about myself, my anxieties, and my demons. This is the first time I’ve had a really honest conversation with someone about all of that. It’s available now for you to download  if you’re interested & you should download the rest of the episodes and listen to all of these incredible, brave people telling their mental health stories, too. I come at it from a very different angle because of my disease, which I hope is interesting and informative, but every single person who has contributed to Sick Leave has brought something beautiful and vulnerable to the table. I’d also like to shout out to my bloody awesome staff members who are so great at their jobs, so supportive of me & so caring. I feel very lucky to have such incredible young women working with me. Proud to be part of the ongoing conversations around mental health in hospitality and hey, if anybody ever wants to chat about anything they’re struggling with & feel they don’t know who to turn to, my DMs are open, my brownie bar is open, and my heart is open. With love and appreciation, Jackie x
